Your data under UK law — explained simply

1. Who we are & contact

PegCast ("we", "us") is a free UK-based laundry drying tool. We handle personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Data controller contact: whichischeaperapp@gmail.com. The UK supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

2. What data we collect

No account required. You can use the site without sharing any personal data.
City / location query: the city or postcode you type, or approximate coordinates if you tap "My location", is used only to fetch weather data and is not stored on our servers. Saved locations are stored only in your browser (localStorage).
Analytics (with consent only): Google Analytics 4 collects anonymous usage data (pages visited, approximate region, device type). IP addresses are anonymised by Google.
Advertising (with consent only): Google AdSense may collect data to show and measure relevant ads.

3. Legal basis (Art. 6 UK GDPR)

We process analytics and advertising data only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clearing your browser cookies. Necessary browser storage (your saved city / preferences) is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a functional service and is never transmitted to us.

4. Third parties & data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Weather data is provided by WeatherAPI.com; their privacy policy applies to data they process.

5. International transfers

Google and GitHub may process data outside the UK. Transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

6. Data retention

Google Analytics 4 user data: up to 26 months.
Your cookie consent choice: 180 days (stored only in your browser).
Saved locations / settings: stored only in your browser, deleted when you clear site data or tap Reset in Settings.

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights email whichischeaperapp@gmail.com. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).

8. Children, security & changes

Our service is not directed at children under 13. We use HTTPS and secure hosting. We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here. Last updated November 2026.
