How we use cookies under UK law (PECR)
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences. We also use browser local storage (saved only on your device) to remember your saved locations, dark mode preference and cookie consent choice. In the UK, the use of non-essential cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), which requires your consent.
We use Google Consent Mode v2. Before you accept, all advertising and analytics cookies are blocked by default (four signals: ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, analytics_storage = denied). Clicking Accept sets them to granted and allows Google Analytics and Google AdSense cookies. Clicking Decline keeps them denied. Your choice is saved for 180 days in your browser only. To change it later, clear your browser cookies for this site.
| Type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary (localStorage) | PegCast | Remember your saved locations, dark mode preference and cookie consent choice. Stored only on your device, never transmitted to us. | Locations & dark mode: until you clear site data. Cookie choice: 180 days |
| Analytics (with consent) | Google Analytics (GA4) | Anonymous visitor statistics (pages visited, approximate region, device). IP is anonymised by Google. | Up to 2 years |
| Advertising (with consent) | Google AdSense | Show and measure relevant ads, prevent fraud. Only after you accept. | Up to 1 year |
We do not set any cookies ourselves. All cookies come from the Google services above, and only after you accept. Weather data is fetched through our own proxy (Cloudflare Worker) — WeatherAPI.com does not set cookies on your device and does not receive your IP address.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here. Last updated November 2026. Questions: whichischeaperapp@gmail.com.
